08/26/15 - 3/4 Chem 1H - Comp Book Set Up and Sig Digs

Today's Agenda

Our Focus Question:  What practices are followed to ensure safety in the laboratory?

Goals
  1. Explain the difference between accuracy and precision in lab data.
  2. Apply the rules for writing measurements using sig digs as they apply to:
    1. Nonzero integers.
    2. Zeros. (Address all three cases of zeros)
    3. Exact numbers.

        Activities
        1. Bell Ringer
          1. Pick up "I Can" list for  Math Skills, same unit.
          2. Read over what you need to know and be able to do.
          3. Open classroom and the document for this first unit.  What resources are already available to you?
          4. If you have a data table or lab to submit, turn it in by the tardy bell.
        2. Housekeeping
        3. Comp book set up
        4. Notes - Sig Digs
          1. Closure
            1. Picture
            2. Notebooks
            3. Other
          Prepare for the Next Class
          Check Google Classroom.
          =====================

Explain the difference between accuracy (how close a measurement is to a true or accepted value) and precision (how close a set of measurements are to each other)

          Nonzero integers.
