    Our Focus Question:  How do we use what we see to determine what we get in the laboratory?

    Goals
    1. Review "Nomenclature" summer assignment in preparation for your test on August 27th.
    2. Work on element symbols.  Yep, you need to know these.
    3. Work on ions. Yep, you need to know these too by the 3rd test.  

    Agenda
      1. Bell Ringer
        1. Pick up a periodic table, "I Can" for nomenclature, and problem sets for nomenclature for today's discussion.
        2. Be ready for announcements at the bell and possible class picture.
      2. Summary of Exit Slips about prep for the test.
        1. Need more practice? See "Additional Problems".  I have answers! :-)
        2. There are NO plus/minus sig dig problems on the test.  Just do as last year with rounding rules.
        3. Our first major lab is Friday.  After Friday, expect lab questions on the exam.  Until then, no worries.  
      3. Nomenclature - review of summer work with a focus on the following problems
        1. Individual types as needed
        2. Problem Set 3 
        3. Problem Set 4 - 9, 10
        4. Compare and discuss your answers.Give each other specific feedback based on the details that are required.  Make note of items you and your group still have trouble with. 
      4. Organic structural formulas 
        1. Review 
        2. Functional groups
        3. Subsituents
      5. Napoleon's Buttons Questions (time permitting)
      6. Closure
        1. About those element symbols and ions.
        2. Lab shoes
        3. Complete the Today's Exit Slip.  Go to Classroom to access.  It's due before you leave.  Forms submitted before "Closure" are not valid.
