Our Focus Question:  What practices are followed to ensure safety in the laboratory?

Goals
  1. Identify and describe appropriate dress for laboratory investigations. 
  2. Identify safe and unsafe laboratory conditions and behaviors. 
  3. Follow best practices in the handling of chemicals and equipment in order to minimize exposure to chemicals. 

Activities
  1. Bell Ringer
    1. Obtain:
      1. Chem 1H Parent Quick Reference. Take this home to your parents.guardians.
        1. "I Can" Checklist for Lab Safety and Math Skills.
        2. One sheet of card stock and a marker.  
          1. Fold the card stock "hot dog" style to make a tent.
          2. In the middle on one side, write your first name.
          3. In the upper right hand corner, write your grade level (10, 11, or 12).
          4. In the upper left hand corner, write nothing.
          5. In the bottom left hand corner, write a word that describes you.
          6. In the bottom right hand corner, write a word that describes chemistry.
      2. Introduce yourself to your table mates.  Make sure you know what everyone likes to be called.  Share your summer highlights.
