Learning Goals
- Locate SDS information in the lab and online.
- Read SDS’s for safety concerns and handle chemicals accordingly.
- Correctly respond to an evacuation including:
- Turning off gas and water.
- Exiting the classroom quickly.
- Reporting to the correct location on the field.
- Turning off the gas and water main of the lab.
- Correctly use the safety shower.
- Correctly use the fume hood and determine when to use it.
- Correctly use the eyewash.
- Dress appropriately for lab including removing jewelry, ID’s etc.
- Select independent, dependent, and controlled variables for an experiment.
- Bell Ringer
- Pick TWO classmates you would like to work with as a lab partner. One will be your ACIDIC buddy and one will be your BASIC buddy. Write the names down. We will record names in our composition books later this week.
- Pick up a pair of goggles. You will need to write your name on a piece of tape and put the tape on your goggles. The tape must not obstruct your view.
- Pick up a NEW copy of your lab safety I Can. My bad! DESTROY the old copy. Better - give it to me for recycling! :-)
