Today's Agenda
Learning Goals
- Use the integrated rate law to determine the order of reaction:
- graphically by a y=mx+b relationship
- mathematically using the appropriate relationships
- using half-life determinations.
- Use a TI-84 calculator or spreadsheet to use the integrated rate law to determine the order of reaction for a given set of data.
- Bell Ringer
- Compare your HW answers with your lab partner. Make notes and corrections in ink, then post to GC by time called if you want to. Since I accidentally put 11:59 PM for time it is due, I will honor that. SHOW ME ALL WORK!
- Get ready for next set of notes. You need a calculator or and a new spreadsheet in Sheets.
- Activities
- Review "I Can" - What have we learned so far?
- AP Essays - comments and examples.
- Direct Instruction - Using Graphing to Figure Out Reactant Order
- Guided Practice - Problem Set 2, C12
- Closure
- Posting to GC.
- App is okay but when it doesn't work, use your CB.
- Date and time are set so that you can post at school if necessary.
- Postings are often for feedback.
- AP Essays on your checklist - do them.
Prepare for the Next Class
- Check the calendar (on this blog)
- Post questions to GC

HOW TO MAKE YOUR CALCULATOR DO ALL OF THE MATH!
- Turn on diagnostics first and clear your lists
- Enter your data in the lists
- Graph and do a linear regression
- Remember r and r squared must be as close to 1 as possible.
- Remember what SLOPE represents. Is it k or -k?????? Solve correctly. The rate constant, k, is ALWAYS positive when reported in the rate law.
